Travel Tips

  • Make sure of the validity of passports and to be effective for not less than 6 months.

  • To obtain visas in advance either from an embassy of Myanmar or an e-visa.

  • Commitment and adherence to regulations and laws in Myanmar, and to abide to the rules of international aviation and not to carry forbidden items.

  • Keep your passports, airline tickets and personal belongings in safe places.

  • Do not give your passport or identity card to any person, at any case.

  • Keep with you your Passport and identity card numbers to refer to them when following up with the mission in case of loss, it would also be better to keep copies of them.

  • The visitor must bear in mind that cash is necessary to make payments as some hotels, restaurants and shops do not accept payment by credit card.

  • It would be better to avoid carrying jewelry and valuables.

  • Keep the contact numbers of the embassy of the State of Qatar in Myanmar and their hot or emergency number to refer to them when necessary, and make sure to immediately contact the embassy of the State of Qatar in case of any issue happens to inform officials.

Touristic Places

Myanmar has many different tourist destinations, and in 2016 it attracted more than 5 million tourists and targets 10 million tourists by the end of 2020. These tourist destinations are Buddhist temples, beaches and ancient historic cities. Most prominent tourist destinations are as follows:

  • Shwedagone Pagoda in Yangon

  • The old city of Bagan, which is rich in thousands of ancient temples.

  • Mandalay palace

  • Inlay in Shan state

  • Ngwe Saung and Chaung Thar beach in Ayeyarwaddy delta region

  • Ngapali in Rakhine state

  • Ancient city of Mrauk U in Rakhine state

  • Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) in Mon state

  • Myeik Islands in Thanintaryi region

  • Myitsone (Ayeyarwaddy Confluence) in Kachin state

Note: Myanmar's tourist places are safe, with the exception of some hot spots located in conflict areas that need tourists to obtain a permit prior to their visit.
