The Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the State at the Lotte Hotel in Yangon, with the attendance of the Union Minister of Energy, His Excellency Mr. Ko Ko Lwin, as the guest of honor, along with the Chief Minister of Yangon, senior officials from the Myanmar MoFA, in addition to heads of diplomatic missions and United Nations representatives accredited to Myanmar, a number of media professionals, businessmen, economists, heads of sports clubs, and intellectuals and cultural figures.
On the side-line of the reception, Dr. Rashid Abdulla AL-Kuwari Qatar's Chargés d'Affaires a.i. delivered a speech stressed that “the National Day is an occasion which embodies our national values of unity, solidarity and loyalty to the homeland and leadership to continue building a bright future that reflects the ambitions of our leaders and the aspirations of our loyal people.”
Dr. Al Kuwari touched on the achievements of the State of Qatar in 2024 and its pivotal role as a reliable international partner in mediation and conflict resolution to achieve peace and security, in addition to its pioneering projects in the clean energy sector, reducing emissions, enhancing economic diversification, increasing investments in non-oil sectors and transforming into a global center for sustainable development.
He talked about Qatari-Myanmar relations which reflects a commitment to developing partnerships based on mutual respect and common interests, expressing his thanks to the government and people of Myanmar, wishing the relations further progress.
The ceremony included the display of introductory videos about the State of Qatar, its culture, its most prominent historical landmarks and the renaissance it has achieved in various fields.
